Singapore with kids: a 5-day family itinerary

International31 Oct 20266 min read

Sentosa, Universal Studios, Gardens by the Bay, the zoo and Night Safari — a relaxed five-day plan for families, with tips on hotels, getting around and what to book ahead.

Singapore is one of the easiest international holidays for families from India: a short flight, spotless streets, excellent public transport, plenty of vegetarian and Indian food, and attractions built with children in mind. Five days is enough to see the highlights without rushing from one ticket counter to the next.

The 5-day plan

  1. 1

Day 1 — Arrive and settle in

Check in, rest after the flight, then head to Marina Bay in the evening. Watch the Spectra light and water show at the waterfront and the Supertree light show at Gardens by the Bay — both are free.

  2. 2

Day 2 — Sentosa and Universal Studios

A full day at Universal Studios Singapore. Arrive at opening time and ride the most popular attractions first. If the kids still have energy, stay on Sentosa for the evening show at the beach.

  3. 3

    Day 3 — More Sentosa

Choose by age: the S.E.A. Aquarium for little ones, the Adventure Cove water park or the luge and skyride for older kids, and a relaxed afternoon at one of Sentosa's beaches.

  4. 4

Day 4 — Gardens and the zoo

Morning at the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest at Gardens by the Bay, a rest at the hotel, then the Night Safari after dark. Families with younger children may prefer the Singapore Zoo or Bird Paradise during the day instead.

  5. 5

Day 5 — Shopping and departure

A city tour with Merlion Park, Chinatown and Little India for shopping and lunch, then the transfer to Changi Airport. Leave time to see the Jewel waterfall before your flight.

Where to stay

  • City hotels near an MRT station (Orchard, Bugis, Marina Bay or near Little India) keep travel times short and give you plenty of food options.
  • A night or two on Sentosa is lovely with kids, but costs more — a split stay works well.
  • Ask for family rooms or connecting rooms early; Singapore rooms can be compact.

Tips for a smoother trip

  • Book Universal Studios, the Night Safari and Gardens by the Bay tickets in advance, especially for school holidays.
  • Use the MRT and taxis or ride-hailing apps — they're quick, clean and air-conditioned.
  • Carry a light umbrella: short afternoon showers are common through the year.
  • Plan an indoor activity or a hotel pool break in the afternoon heat.
  • Check passports, visas and travel insurance early for every traveller, including children.
