The best months to go, how many days you need, which attractions to book ahead, and the paperwork to sort out early — a practical checklist for a Dubai family holiday.
Dubai is one of the most popular first international holidays for Indian families: the flight from Mumbai is short, the city is safe and easy to get around, and there is plenty for every age — from theme parks and the desert to the souks and the beach. A little planning before you fly makes a big difference to cost and comfort.
Best time to go
November to March is the most pleasant, with warm days and comfortable evenings for outdoor sightseeing and the desert safari. Summer (June to September) is very hot, but hotel prices drop and most big attractions are indoors — a good option if you're on a budget and plan your days around the heat.
How many days?
Five nights is the sweet spot for a first visit. That leaves time for a city tour, a desert safari, one or two theme parks, a day trip to Abu Dhabi and an unhurried evening at the Dubai Mall and fountain show. With small children, add a rest day in the middle.
Attractions worth booking in advance
- Burj Khalifa observation deck — sunset slots sell out first.
- Desert safari with BBQ dinner — choose a reputed operator and a private vehicle with young kids.
- Theme parks such as IMG Worlds, Ferrari World or Dubai Parks — combo tickets are usually better value.
- Dhow cruise dinner at the Marina or Creek.
- Abu Dhabi day trip, including the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque (modest dress required).
Paperwork to sort out early
- Passports valid for at least six months from your travel date, for every traveller including infants.
- UAE tourist visa — rules and eligibility change from time to time, so check the current requirement for your passport and apply well before travel. We handle the application for you.
- Travel insurance covering medical emergencies for the whole family.
- Confirmed return tickets and hotel bookings, which are usually needed for the visa file.
Money-saving tips
- Book flights six to eight weeks ahead and avoid school-holiday peaks if you can.
- Stay in Deira, Bur Dubai or Al Barsha for better hotel value, with easy metro access.
- Use the metro for city days — it's clean, cheap and air-conditioned.
- Pick a hotel with breakfast included; it saves time and money every morning.
